gaming, addiction & journalists

i can't remember the last time i read something positive in the local news about gamers and gaming. and as for negative? oh just about 25 minutes ago.

it makes me wonder who are the people behind these pieces. what they hope to achieve to do by writing them, and the future of esports in singapore.

can it be possible that they see gaming addiction as a case in isolation, divorced from influences like parenting and education? that they dismiss the many positive effects of gaming just for those few wayward ones tee-totaling over the edge?

or is it simply because they do not know, because they do not care to know?

journalists need to be more responsible, more rigorous in their presentation of 'news'. for many people take "news" as fact, and do not question otherwise.

a ripple of ignorance is never a good thing.
